OUR PURPOSE

Periodontitis and peri-implantitis are among the most prevalent diseases in the oral cavity. The role of the clinical team in the treatment of these diseases is essential to obtain satisfactory long-term results. In this context, we designed a course on advanced periodontal treatment techniques designed by and for the dental hygienist, combining theoretical and practical sessions.

In this two-day course, various topics related to periodontal and peri-implant diseases will be reviewed and developed, to give the hygienist a complete vision of the management of the periodontal patient and patients with implants.

Anatomy of the periodontium. Differences with the diseased periodontium. Differences between gingiva and peri-implant mucosa.

What are the periodontal sicknesses? Classification and risk factors.

Peri-implant diseases. Diagnosis, prevalence and etiopathogenesis. Diagnostic techniques in periodontics. Clinical and radiological examination.

Diagnostic techniques in periodontics. Advanced examination: microbiological and genetic tests.

Periodontal probing and preparation of periodontogram.

Instrumental for carrying out non-surgical treatment.

Systemic phase of treatment. Control of risk factors: tobacco, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases. Motivation for plaque control.

Scaling and root planing. Concept and evidence of its effectiveness. Basic instrument. Probes and curettes, sonic, ultrasonic, rotary instruments, air polishers.
