OUR PURPOSE

Periodontitis and peri-implantitis are among the most prevalent diseases of the oral cavity. The coordinated work of the clinical team in the treatment of these diseases is essential to obtain satisfactory results, stabilisation of the pathology and long-term maintenance.

In this context, we have designed a course in basic and advanced periodontal treatment techniques, designed by and for the dental hygienist, in an intensive theoretical and practical day.

Various topics related to periodontal and peri-implant diseases will be reviewed and developed to give the hygienist a comprehensive view of the management of periodontal and implant patients.

GOALS

Know what periodontal and peri-implant diseases are and how to diagnose them.

To present the non-surgical treatment, its clinical protocols, and the instruments used, both basic and advanced.

Explain non-surgical treatment in periodontal and implant therapy with an up-to-date view.

Importance of the hygienist’s role in the treatment phase and periodontal maintenance phase.

Schedule an appointment for periodontal treatment.

Scheduling a maintenance appointment for both the periodontal patient and the implant patient.

THEORY

Anatomy of the periodontium. Differences with the diseased periodontium. Differences between gingiva and peri-implant mucosa.
What are periodontal diseases? Classification and risk factors.
Peri-implant diseases. Diagnosis, prevalence and aetiopathogenesis. Diagnostic techniques in periodontics. Clinical and radiological examination.
Periodontal probing and preparation of periodontogram.
New instruments for non-surgical treatment.
Systemic phase of treatment. Risk factor control.
Motivation for plaque control.
Scaling and root planing. Concept and evidence of its effectiveness. Basic instrument. Probes and curettes, sonic, ultrasonic, rotary instruments, air polishers.
Periodontal re-evalulation. Scraping limitations. Evaluation parameters.
Presentation of new instrumentation systems. Treatment bases for mucositis and peri-implantitis.

PRACTICE

Practical session on scaling and root planing: Identification of curettes, cutting edges and sharpening. New curette designs. Maintenance of instruments Automatic sharpeners and stones. Instrument organization.
Scaling and root planing on phantoms. Insertion, activation, fulcrum, etc.
Introduction of new instrumentation systems

* Cancellation policy: Cancellation of the course registration will be charged with a 30€ cancellation fee. management fees. If the cancellation is made with less than 30 days notice, you will not be entitled to a reimbursement of the amounts paid. The course is subject to a minimum number of places being filled. In case of the student has made the payment, the full amount will be refunded.
